Day (minus)14: You say Goodbye and I say Hello

My office junta maintains a Google Calendar of the main events scheduled for the day. Today, the calendar read “Mahima’s last day (for now)”.

I absolutely loved the parentheses – without them, the thing would have had such an ominous finality to it.
Change is one of life’s bittersweet realities, yes. But when you have had a particularly good time on one ride, it becomes hard to shrug off the nagging reluctance to “move on” – however exciting the next one may sound.
So, here is my latest epiphany – never close a chapter. They never really allow you to completely close them, anyway. Moving on shouldn’t necessarily have to imply a severance of all ties with the past. Doesn’t the word “growth”, by definition, connote a carrying forward of the past?

This one would sit well with my general aversion to goodbyes. What a delightfully convenient philosophy of life. For now.

See what I mean? It’s important to remember.

  1. Totally agree with the following:Moving on shouldn’t necessarily have to imply a severance of all ties with the past. Doesn’t the word “growth”, by definition, connote a carrying forward of the past?"Good luck with everything your new endeavour brings your way aye 🙂
